The Myth of Eternity.
The decline of the world is a sign of impurity, that the people have angered God and now they must repent. By selecting their strongest warriors to awaken four of the Seraph's guardian Spirits, the people prove to God that they are worth saving. The completion of the journey is said to bring forth the Tower Eternal, allowing God to descend from the highest heaven - Empyrean - and bless the land to ensure prosperity for all eternity.
Religion.
One sole religion is accepted as truth and practiced throughout the world, though that is not to say there are no outliers. Anyone caught possessing heretical beliefs will be arrested and anyone caught worshiping a heretical deity will be killed - rumored - by the church’s very own Templar Knights.

Nameless God
All powerful and infinite, even speaking His name is said to bring upon natural disaster. The creator of the universe.
Seraphs
The Nameless God’s eternal servants and mouthpieces of His will. They are the middlemen between humanity and God.
Spirits
The 8 elemental denizens created by the Seraphs to protect and watch over humanity. One for each element.

In times of great distress, the Holy Seraphs will walk the land in order to guide people back to the 'Right Path' - as deemed by the Nameless God.
Artes.
The strength of God made manifest, artes are special skills that allow people to grow stronger in combat than the average person by channeling the world's energy. With the recent decline, however, arte users have been regarded as more of a nuisance by the common people.

Only the long descended children of Seraphs are able to twist the energy of the Eight into form. Magik is viewed as a direct blessing from the Nameless God, and those able to use it are both revered for their holiness and feared for their unnatural strength.
Those without the gift of magik have to fight somehow! Physikal Arteists utilize weapons imbued with a fragment of Spirit in order to add a little extra oomph! to their blows. Usually these fragments are gifted by the church, but many people claim to have found their own just out and about.
